Best practice for H1 on site without H1 - Alternative methods?

I have recently set up a mens style blog - the site is made up of articles pulled in from a CMS and I am wanting to keep the design as clean as possible - so no text other than the articles.
This makes it hard to get a H1 tag into the page - are there any solutions/alternatives? that would be good for SEO?

This would be correct and a simple job. Find a WordPress developer and have them make an edit to the theme to include an H1 tag.

Hey there!
I'm assuming that you don't have a static homepage in WordPress, meaning that you can't edit it under 'pages' and add an H1.
You'll have to find the home / index template under Appearance > Editor and add an H1 there.
Hope this steers you in the right direction!

yeah I know for the subpages I have the H1's i mean for the homepage? in terms of it not being text based other than the individual articles content.
Yeah backlinks - social is the next thing to get on once I have the site finished

Hi, it looks like you have a Wordpress website and also the use of H1. For example on page: http://www.iamtheconnoisseur.com/casual-connoisseur-x-trickett-the-weir-collaboration-gift-set/ you have H1 at Casual Connoisseur x TRiCKETT ( you can see it in the source code).
Your site is using images you can use the "alt tag" here's some info about it: https://econsultancy.com/blog/63845-the-basics-of-using-alt-text-for-seo/
Also start using the meta description in the head, it's not a big SEO thing but at least your snippets in Google will get it's info from it and good snippets are good for clicks.Get backlinks to your site. Without backlinks no authority on your domain. in OSE i don't see any backlink, it's worth trying to get some..

Mega Menu Navigation Best Practice

I'm in the process of redesigning my website, and I'm trying to decide whether to keep the navigation extremely simple or leave the drop-down menu for galleries. Contact Selling prints is the top priority of the website, as that's what runs the business. I have lots of blog content, and I'm starting to build some good travel advice, etc. but in reality, the galleries, which then filter down to individual pages for each photo with a cart system, are the most important. What I'm struggling to decide is whether to leave the sort of "mega menu" for the galleries, or to do away with them, and have the user go to the overall galleries page to navigate further into the site. Leaving the mega menu intact, the galleries page becomes a lot less important, and takes out a step to get to the shopping cart. However, I'm wondering if the amount of galleries in the drop down menu is giving TOO many choices up front as well. I also wonder how changing this will affect search. Any thoughts on which is better or is it really just a matter of preference?0 -

Best practice for expandable content
We are in the middle of having new pages added to our website. On our website we will have a information section containing various details about a product, this information will be several paragraphs long. we were wanting to show the first paragraph and have a read more button to show the rest of the content that is hidden. Best practice for duplicate website content: same root domain name but different extension
Hi there I have a new client who has two websites: http://www.bayofislandsteambuilding.co.nz

http://www.bayofislandsteambuilding.org.nz They are the same in every regard apart from the domain extension (.co.nz & .org.nz) which is likely to be causing them issues with Google ranking given the huge amount of duplicate content. What is the best practice approach to fixing this? Normally, if I was starting from scratch, I would set one of the extensions as an alias which redirects to the main domain. Thanks in advance. Splitting a Site into Two Sites for SEO Purposes
I have a client that owns a business that really could be easily divided into two separate business in terms of SEO. Right now his web site covers both divisions of his business. He gets about 5500 visitors a month. The majority go to one part of his business and around 600 each month go to the other. So about 11% I'm considering breaking off this 11% and putting it on an entirely different domain name. I think I could rank better for this 11%. The site would only be SEO'd for this particular division of the company. The keywords would not be in competition with each other. I would of course link the two web sites and watch that I don't run into any duplicate content issues. I worry about placing the redirects from the pages that I remove to the new pages. I know Google is not a fan of redirects. Then I also worry about the eventual drop in traffic to the main site now. How big of a factor is traffic in rankings? Other challenges include that the business services 4 major metropolitan areas. Would you do this? Have you done this? How did it work? Any suggestions?

It would be better to do a Javascript redirect? Or an http 3xx redirect? If so, which of the 3xx redirect should we use? Thank you0
