Are Carousels Bad for SEO?

My real estate web site was migrated form Drupal to Wordpress last July. The ranking have dropped a lot since migration. One of the things we changed is that we have added two carousels to the home page. Most of the text is below the carousels. Is this bad for SEO?

A lot of the time carousels can tack on lots of added bandwidth, both in the slider functionality as well as the images within the slider. Site speed is a large factor within SEO and has been known to make a site respond accordingly.
You mentioned you switched CMS's as well: did you pay attention to your permalink structure during the change? Were any 404's created. Did you 3xx old posts to the new ones? Sitemap?

When you say "carousel" do you mean a slider that has images that rotate through in a slideshow format? If so, they are not bad for SEO per se. Also having text below is not bad for SEO. Again, you need to realize that you are asking a question in a vacuum and if you give more data we might be able to help you decipher the problem.
The change from drupal to WP should not have a negative effect per se. A question is did the urls change? If they did, did you do 301 redirects in the .htaccess file on a url to url basis? (This is the more common problem I see with new clients who come to us with a problem after a site change.)
From a UI/UX perspective, how large is the slider relative to the page? How fast? Is there music? Etc. So, the devil is in the details. (Did you change from an IDX feed for your listings to RETS?) With a site change and rankings drop, you have to look first and foremost at what was changed and then use the process of elimination to ferret out the problem.

Mega Menus and SEO
Hi Everyone, I know this has been brought up before, but wanted your opinion for 2020. I have a new client that is hesitant to do a mega menu for their huge site due to the amount of links and "dilution". I have quite a few clients with mega menus with no problems at all from an SEO standpoint. But I can understand his perspective. I am suggesting that we have the main links (looking at GA) as the the navigation, then clicking them takes you to subcategory page listing all the subcats within. Problem is that the developer/designer has made this mega menu already and it is pretty slick. Now they already are killing it search-wise on Google, but don't have a mega menu or a secondary category page. Just a a category with too many products, so we are trying to go one way or the other. Any opinions on which route to best take from a user and SEO perspective?

How do elements that are displayed when scrolled impact SEO?
Hi, We are wanting to implement Animate.css and Wowjs on our site and were concerned about the SEO impacts. Basically when the page is loaded, if the element is not within the viewport then the HTML tag (i.e. div tag) have a style="visibility: hidden" and once the element is within the viewport it will change to have style="visibility: visible". Would having the style="visibility: hidden" negatively impact SEO?

Is placing an H1 tag below a slideshow a bad practice?
Hello All, It is to my understanding that it is a best practice to have a single H1 headline that corresponds to your title tag at the top of your page, above your content for the best On-Site Optimization. We are developing a site that uses a big slideshow with text on each slide, and are concerned that placing the H1 Headline below this will be a bad practice. Would a better option be to have the slide show text on the image and place no alt tags on the slides, so that the crawlers accessing the page overlook this and see the H1 below the slider first? We need to maintain the slider for design purposes, but would like the site to optimized. A similar example to what the slider will look like is as follows: http://www.boviskyle.com/ However, we look to have optimized, "10x" content below the slider with a solid H1 headline as well. Does using Wordpress Multisite have any negative SEO impact?
I manage multiple websites in Wordpress and the idea of managing them all under one Wordpress install is very attractive. Are there any dangers SEO-wise to doing so? I know that all of the sites would live under the same IP address, but that's not something I'm really concerned with anyway because I don't do a lot of inter-linking between the sites.
